Enable Business Continuity

Achieve Faster Recovery Time and Business Continuity with File Backups & Archiving

Protect the data in your local and remote offices automatically.

Disaster can strike at any time. Protect your files with up-to-date backups.

Proper file archiving and backups prevent lost data and gaps in file history. SureSync MFT allows you to:

  • Archive commonly used files into the cloud for disaster recovery purposes.
  • Backup data from remote/mobile desktop and laptop computers.

Having a centralized backup can be critical for companies with remote offices where backups may not always be performed or there is no local IT staff. SureSync alleviates these complications by allowing data to be replicated from remote sites to a central server or servers. A central storage for backups provides many benefits:

  • Decrease IT staff costs for remote offices
  • Eliminate the need for tape backup hardware in remote offices
  • Provide fast data recovery

SureSync MFT can be configured to monitor files and folders in real-time, providing continuous data protection for your local and remote offices.

Speak to an Expert about File Backups & Archiving

What is file archiving?

File archiving is the systematic process of gathering versions of files as they change and storing those backup copies in another location for recovery purposes. Archives can be stored in any of the following locations:

  • Server storage
  • Cloud blob storage

File archiving can be run on a clock basic (scheduled) or continuously. A continuous file archive can be a powerful complement to existing backup solutions such as tape.

The continual processing helps close gaps in the backup window where a file version may not have made it to tape or an image. File archiving can also represent a standalone versioned backup solution for your user files.

How does file archiving work?

The process starts with setting interval rules. An interval is a period of time. Intervals determine how many versions of a file need to be retained in different time periods.

Archive rules are highly flexible, and can be set in many ways depending on the user’s need. Archiving will spread the number of versions as evenly as possible throughout a specified interval, preventing gaps in file histories. For example, an interval set to keep 7 versions in a week will space those versions out over the specified time. If more than 7 versions are saved in the time period, old versions will carry over to the next interval.

Once a file version is old enough to be outside the defined archive intervals, the system will automatically remove that version from the archive.
