How is SureSync Collaboration licensed?

Licensing is quite simple. All you need to do is count the number of “servers” involved in synchronization as sources or destinations. “Servers” include any machine running a Windows Server Operating System, FTP Servers, or any non-Windows machine such as a NAS box running Linux. To fully take advantage of the Communication Agent & Locking features in SureSync Collaboration, a Windows Operating System is required.

What is SyncLockStatus and is it required for file locking?

SyncLockStatus is an application which resides on a client machine, providing users notifications of when a file is locked or available for editing. While SyncLockStatus is not required for file locking & synchronization between between servers, it is recommended to improve the end user’s visibility of the file locking environment. When end users know when a file is locked, who has it locked, and when it becomes available for editing; they tend to require less IT intervention.
