SureSync 5.0 Delivers New & Improved Enterprise Management Features, Simplified Configuration, and Improved Performance
San Mateo, CA - Software Pursuits, Inc., a developer and worldwide distributor of data management and availability software, announced the release of SureSync 5.0.
The new version greatly simplifies the management of replication and synchrnonization tasks across an enterprise network with the new SyncStatus feature. Users will be able to manage replication jobs from one single location while monitoring the performance of local and remote tasks.
Along with the powerful SyncStatus feature, SureSync 5.0 delivers multiple features that will greatly simplify an organizations management of replication / synchronization. With an updated interface and simplified wizards, SureSync enables an organization to easily and reliable replicate data in real-time or on a scheduled basis. SureSync's scheduler now runs as a true service and the SPIAgent Add-on's Real-Time replication feature now includes change journal support.
In addition to the new real-time functionality with change journal support, the SPIAgent Add-on aslo includes the ability to push updates out to remote machines running the agents and process deltas (changes within files) to non-Windows machines. Processing deltas requires the communication occurs between two Windows machines with drives mapped to the non-Windows machines, however, this funcionality will save a lot of remote replication issues for clients who need to copy data to Unix, Linux, or Netware machines.
SureSync 5.0 also boasts new add-on products that will allow users to setup file sharing and file archiving scenarios. The new File Locking Option Add-on will ensure that those files being synchronized with multi-way synchronization methods will not incur multiple updates from more than one user opening a file. Rather than having multiple updates causing synchronization conflicts, the file locking feature will lock all file copies as read-only until the initial editor has finished updating the file, eliminating the need for IT time to resolve conflicts.
The ArchiveSync add-on, once a standalone product, has been incorporated into SureSync, allowing users the ability to perform their replicatioin tasks, disk-to-disk backups, and data retention. The ArchiveSync add-on allows users to restore their files from a specified point-in-time, greatly reducing the time it takes to locate and restore files from tape. Additionally, archived files can be stored in remote locations or centralized to backup the archive to tape.
